Las week, I closed another beautiful chapter in my photography journey. I presented my final project for the UW photography course — Little Hands — and I’m so happy with the feedback I received!
Little Hands is more than a project — it’s a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of childhood learning through the sense of touch. As a family photographer and a mother, I’m constantly inspired by my daughter and how she uses her little hands to explore, create, and understand the world around her.
This project focuses on children's hands, revealing the quiet, powerful stories of curiosity, growth, and discovery found in the smallest everyday moments. I love witnessing how children engage with the world through touch — whether it’s feeling different textures, building imaginative worlds, or simply expressing emotions in ways only their little hands can.
What I found especially meaningful in this project was incorporating a hands-on activity during the photo session. It turned out to be not only incredibly fun for the kids but also a wonderful way to capture genuine, joyful expressions. It made the session feel natural and playful, and the photos reflected that energy.
This experience got me thinking: what if we made creative activities a part of session with kids? Something simple, fun, and sensory that brings out authentic smiles and helps children feel relaxed and involved.
Little Hands invites us to see children’s photography from a fresh perspective — one that embraces play, imagination, and touch. It’s a gentle reminder of how magical childhood really is… one little hand at a time.
